Yesterday (Asia Pacific time zone) I rolled for the new hero with total over 300K gems but totally failed.  Anyway, I did not throw my Ipad out of window.  But I started to think why I spent so much money on such a game.

Anybody got the new hero?  Congratulations on him/her!  Other people ... take me as a bad example ... don't waste money and time on something not worthy of it.

I know that a lot of people spent so much gems and no Anubis.
I rolled yesterday 180k gems. One my friend rolled 200k gems and another friend - 80k gems. And no Anubis.
It's look like chance to get Anubis is 0.00000001.

So yes, don't spend your gems!

Well I guess the people at IGG are marketing geniouses.    If they got u to buy $1500 worth of gems, what's to stop you from spending another $1000?

You are right.  There will be somebody else to buy gems because of the marketing team's "excellent" job.  But players will understand, at the end of day, IGG is actually "playing" games with us, not we play games.

When IGG sees more FTP people, how can they continue to make money?

One of my guild mates rolled 2K gems and got Anubis while others rolled much more and didn't get him...
That's pure luck and small chances...

That's the name of the game though.

While it does seem like Anubis is a little rarer than usual, based on YT videos and forum posts, a hero being super rare at release isn't unexpected.

When Cupid was first released, there weren't even that many legends out then, but it wasn't uncommon to hear 1000$ rolling disasters going for him.

Now we get Cupid's up the butt.  Cupid hats.  Cupid sunglasses.

These days, I spread out my rolling in small increments.  It's a lot cheaper, you get more eggs, and I don't feel so bad getting nothing as I'm simply going to roll again the next day, bdelley style.

IGC is doing nothing but generating these "super" heroes for short term gain as we pound gems into the slot machines.  Unfortunately this is backifiring as long term players are finally losing their gambling habit or quiting the game all together which appears to be accelerating.  Short term gain, long term loss as the backbone of the game game gets ripped out.

~120k ... no anubis

But, if you cant afford to lose like that, don't spend like that. It's not IGG's fault; the purpose of business is to make a PROFIT. I own a business, if I gave away my products for little to no gain, I would no longer own said business.

Or...we could start complaing about casinos in Vegas charging us money and not letting us WIN!!! How dare they!

Gamble and love it
win lose or draw

A few years ago you can roll 300k+ gems without a critical hero, i.e. cupid, PD ...etc. I hated that and stopped playing because that's worse than gambling.

Now, not so much anymore. They release heroes every month BUT in a few month the hero will be up for grab in Bazaar for $100, then $50, then eventually $10 after perhaps a year (except the dragons). So, if you want him immediately after he's released, you got to pay the big bucks. If you don't want to spend but still want him then wait a few month and you can grab him for much cheaper. It's a perfect price discrimination model -- and from my observation it has converted a lot of FTP guys to P2P. It's like technology -- you want the latest and greatest you pay thousands for a 4K HDR10 OLED TV, but a year or so from today they'll be worth $500. Same logic, same marketing strategy and it works well. Selling soulstones has been the best thing IGG ever did -- it gives me some degree of certainty that I'll get that hero I want by spending $$ that's known to me in advance. So the question becomes whether I want to spend this much vs do I want to gamble away my $$ for nothing.

You can tell from their financials and IGG's stock has been soaring recently after a period of stagnant growth a year ago. There's no reason to deviate from this strategy. However, I hope to see some improvements in this game and I wish they'd stop making new heroes for a while, and do something more creative. After a while this new hero thing will not be so interesting anymore. This game has potentials and they need to listen to reasonable feedbacks from players.
